The Community Outreach Program at the Blair E. Batson Hospital for Children is focused on the education of parents and caregivers for preventive health measures and opportunities to improve child health and well-being.
Our goal is to increase child safety awareness across the state of Mississippi. Striving to reach this goal could not be accomplished without the help of our federal, state, and community partners that share our common interest in community health education.
Together with you, we will make a difference in the lives of our young patients.

Injury is the leading cause of death and disability in the United States for children. Mississippi’s accidental death rate is twice that of the rest of the country. More than 350 children, adolescents and young adults die each year in accidents. In every age group, except infants less than one year, accidental death is the leading cause of death. Most injuries can be prevented through education.
